IMPS Visit to Wythenshawe Hospital
On Monday 29th September, Year 6 went to Wythenshawe Hospital to complete the IMPs programme.
The programme was excellent and all the children were engaged in all of the different activities. Many of the children taught their newly found skills of CPR to teachers, friends and family. They eagerly took part in role plays and practical activities, of what to do if they were to encounter different dangers or accidents. All of the children could retell what to do if someone was:
- Burn – Place burn for 10 minutes under cold water
- If someone was having an electric shock
- If someone was seriously cut
- If you come across someone who was unconscious
They also learnt how to recognise potential dangers and avoid dangers .
Each child learnt about various equipment in the hospital and what its used for such as sharps bins, x-rays and how to take your pulse. All the children had a finger plaster cast and some butterfly stitches to see how it would feel. They learnt how long a break might take to heal.
The children were extremely well behaved and very excited about what they had learnt.
