Personal Development

At Button Lane, we believe that activities beyond the classroom play a fundamental role in the education of the whole child and is at the very core of our school. Personal Development is mapped out across all areas of the curriculum and enrichment activities.  

Personal development is at the core of what we do and is reflected throughout our school vision, 'only the best is good enough' and throughout our school values. Our aim is to teach children how to navigate through life safely, happily and healthily. Children are growing up in a world that is constantly changing and it is the duty of all staff at Button Lane and in partnership with parents to teach our children transferable life skills. 

We value the time our children spend at Button Lane and recognise that it is a key time for them to develop their own identity and aspirations for the future. As well as academic development, it is essential that children are given opportunities, through the curriculum and beyond, for personal development and to develop their cultural capital. We prioritise our children's physical and mental well-being as much as academic achievements. 

We understand the crucial role we can play in helping children to prepare for their adult lives so they can go on to engage positively in society. The opportunities we can offer them whilst at Button Lane will impact upon their future, helping them to develop the core values we hold at the school.
